All aboard! First stop: Insectarium

  • See images of the iconic Dodd insect collection – where art meets science.
  • Get up close to insects from the Queensland Museum collection.
  • See live stick insects and sort their insect eggs from their frass (stick insect poo).
  • Create your own butterfly that flutters when you move.
  • Be an insect artist! Examine the insects up close and draw and colour them.
  • Match the butterfly wings to create amazing butterfly pictures.
  • See microscopic images of insects in 3D.

Next stop: A Room for Wild Animals

    • Step inside this wild exhibition with 20 massive taxidermy specimens from the Queensland Museum collections that include big cats, moose and bears.
    • Identify and follow the animal tracks throughout the Museum. 

    Final Destination: Train Simulators, Model Railway, Kids Adventure Playground plus more

    A BUG'S LIFE - Free Movie Under the Stars

    • Friday 19 January, 7pm.
    • Onsite café and bar open from 5pm.
    • Bring a blanket and enjoy the family favourite flick under the stars on the Powerhouse lawns with onsite café and bar.
    • Please note the Museum exhibitions will be closed from 4pm.
