Thomas fans can get up close to the famous blue engine and meet The Fat Controller in person as he keeps a watchful eye on proceedings and tells stories about the fleet of trains which promote the values of discovery, friendship and cooperation.

Daily activities at the Day out with Thomas 2010 event include interactive Thomas the Tank Engine themed games and activities in the Thomas Play Pit, storytelling with The Fat Controller, art and craft activities, and searching for Thomas on the Museum's huge model railway.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said the Day out with Thomas 2010 event provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors to encounter the 'rail in Queensland' story through characters made famous in the popular books and television series.

"The Day out with Thomas 2010 event is a totally interactive experience which encourages parents and children to enjoy a connection as they partake in activities and learn facts about the impact of rail on our lives," Mr Moritz said.

"Visitors will also be able to meet some other famous trains who are joining Thomas the Tank Engine and The Fat Controller on their visit to The Workshops Rail Museum and learn stories which promote good manners and hard work."
