Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz will participate in the international Museum Leadership Institute Program in Los Angeles in July.

The Museum Leadership Institute Program is convened by the Getty Leadership Institute at Claremont Graduate University in California, and involves an intensive three week program where Mr Moritz will work with other senior museum leaders from around the world to explore some of the complex challenges currently faced by museums.

Participants are selected based on their ability to influence policy and create change at their institutions and represent a range of fields including directors, curators, educators and fundraisers.

Mr Moritz said he was honored to be selected for the program and was looking forward to some insightful and productive discussions with his peers.

“I am privileged to be undertaking the program with leaders from some of the world’s greatest museums including the Smithsonian in Washington and the National Museum of Science and Industry in London,” Mr Moritz said.

“The program will be a wonderful opportunity to learn from a geographically and culturally diverse range of people while showcasing the great work that The Workshops Rail Museum does.”

While in California, Mr Moritz will also travel to the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento.

The Workshops Rail Museum is part of the Queensland Museum and is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism.
