Day out with Thomas 2011 Flood Appeal Day

Thomas fans can contribute to the Queensland flood appeal at the Day out with Thomas 2011 Flood Appeal Day on Sunday 30 January 2011 at The Workshops Rail Museum.

Fat Controller with balloonsThe Workshops Rail Museum will be waiving normal entry to the Day out with Thomas 2011 event in favour of a donation to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal at the gate.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to make a donation at any register in the Museum while at the event.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said the Day out with Thomas 2011 Flood Appeal Day was a great way to contribute to an important cause.

“The North Ipswich Railway Workshops and the Museum were unaffected by the recent floods in Ipswich. They have been a significant part of Ipswich for over 140 years and we feel strongly that we should support our local community in this time of need,” Mr Moritz said.

“This day will celebrate the end of the event and farewell Thomas and The Fat Controller, while giving families the opportunity to support those who are going through a very difficult time.”

Daily activities at the Day out with Thomas 2011 event include interactive Thomas the Tank Engine themed games and activities in the Thomas Play Pit, storytelling with The Fat Controller, art and craft activities, and searching for Thomas on the Museum’s huge model railway.

The Workshops Rail Museum is part of the Queensland Museum and is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism.
