Thomas the Tank Engine event returns

29 March 2011

Fat ControllerThomas the Tank Engine and The Fat Controller will return to The Workshops Rail Museum for the Autumn school holidays from 16 April to 2 May 2011.

The Summer holiday season of Day out with Thomas 2011 was interrupted when the Museum was closed due to the devastating Queensland floods.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said because of the floods, many young Thomas fans had not been able to visit the Day out with Thomas 2011 event during January.

“We are delighted to be able to offer these fans the opportunity to participate in this event by running it again during the Autumn holidays,” Mr Moritz said.

“We will also continue to collect donations for the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal during this event to assist families that were affected.”

Daily activities at the Day out with Thomas 2011 event include interactive Thomas the Tank Engine themed games and activities in the Thomas Play Pit, storytelling with The Fat Controller, art and craft activities, and searching for Thomas on the Museum’s huge model railway.

The Workshops Rail Museum and the Day out with Thomas 2011 event will be closed on Good Friday and ANZAC Day.

Visitors can purchase an Annual Pass Membership when they visit the Day out with Thomas 2011 event which allows unlimited entry into The Workshops Rail Museum for 12 months, including upcoming events such as The Great Train Robbery and the Queensland Model Railway Show.

Donations to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal can be made at donation buckets at the Ticket Office, at any register and online at www.qld.gov.au/floods.

The Workshops Rail Museum is part of the Queensland Museum and is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism.
