Pack your bear, blanket & basket for the Teddy Bears Picnic

05 November 2013

The spotlight is on the fuzzy childhood toy for one weekend when The Workshops Rail Museum hosts the Teddy Bears Picnic on 16 and 17 November 2013.

Teddy bears of all shapes and sizes are welcome to accompany their young owners to the event, with plenty of activities inspired by them, including a teddy bear hunt and dress up photo opportunity.

A special Teddy Bears Parade starts at 1pm on both days, giving visitors the opportunity to show off their favourite friends.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said the weekend event ticks the box for a chilled out family event that will still have children happily exhausted.

"It's nice that a childhood classic still has a place in the hearts of youngsters amongst all glitz and techno-glam of today's toys," Mr Moritz said.

"With activities like face painting, songs & storytelling, this event gives families a weekend to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and connect with each other over good old-fashion fun.

"And of course there is a whole Museum waiting to be explored and enjoyed, they can let off some steam in the indoor playground Nippers Railway and get hands on with Science Station exhibits."

Visitors are welcome to pack their own picnic and enjoy it in the Museum grounds or they can purchase refreshments from the onsite Trackside Café.

The Workshops Rail Museum, part of the Queensland Museum Network, is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage & Cultural Tourism.
