Santas steaming into town

20 November 2013

Santa's kicking the festive season into gear with the two day event An Australian Christmas at The Workshops Rail Museum on 7 & 8 December only.

The family fun weekend sees the jolly man hearing the Christmas wishes of young Museum visitors, with mums and dads encouraged to bring their cameras to capture the moment.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said it's time to relax ahead of the silly season.

“We're giving families an excuse for some quality and fun time with each other before life gets too busy as it does for most of us leading up to Christmas,” Mr Moritz said.

“Little ones will be happily exhausted after a day of meeting Santa, backyard cricket and other games and a ride on a mini steam train.

"Aside from the special activities, visitors have the indoor playground, the model rail and hands on exhibits to enjoy.

"Plus get some Christmas present inspiration for the family train fan or purchase an Annual Pass Membership to get the most out of next year's jam packed calendar."

Creation Station is available for little ones wanting to create Christmas craft to take home, plus plate and mug painting workshops are available for an additional fee.

For the first time at the Museum The Ran Tan Bush Band will keep tunes pumping throughout the weekend with festive favourites and bush dancing.

The Christmas Express Steam Train is departing the Museum Platform for one return trip through the countryside to Grandchester on Sunday 8 December. Seats are limited and bookings are essential.
