Steam Train Sunday to enchant passengers in 2011

Steam Train SundayThe popular Steam Train Sunday trips, presented by The Workshops Rail Museum, will return from Sunday 8 May.

Departing from Roma Street station or South Brisbane station, a magnificently restored Queensland Rail steam train will take passengers on a one hour round journey through Brisbane’s suburbs, passing landmarks and river crossings.

Steam Train Sunday will run regularly from May to December 2011 with trips at 10:10am, 11:40am and 1:10pm.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum, Andrew Moritz said interest in steam train travel has seen a renaissance in recent years.

“People of all ages are becoming more and more fascinated with steam train travel so we have planned additional Steam Train Sunday trips in 2011 to cater to this audience,” Mr Moritz said.

Steam Train Sunday allows people to get a feeling for what the grand era of steam train travel was like with beautifully restored vintage carriages, conductors on the platforms, the whistle of the train and the smell of steam.”

Prices for Steam Train Sunday trips start from $19 for adults, $11 for children under 15 years and $57 for a family of two adults and two children.
