Santa checks out Workshops Down Under

09 November 2011

Santa Celebration 2011He brings festive cheer and goodwill to many and in that famous red suit he’ll start the merry season with the Santa Celebration on 26 and 27 November at The Workshops Rail Museum.

Much fun is to be had on the special weekend with various activities and entertainment, plus Santa eagerly waits to hear the Christmas wishes of young visitors.

This year the jolly man will have the help of this mate the Bush Galah to entertain and encourage visitors to sing along to much loved Aussie Christmas songs with performances at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said it is a wonderful opportunity for some festive fun before the season gets too hectic.

“We hope to see some familiar and new faces to not only celebrate Christmas, but the eventful year that we’ve had, just before the busiest time of year is in full swing with Day out with Thomas 2012,” Mr Moritz said.

“There will be plenty of activities to ease into the festive season and the chance to see the jolly man himself, plus all the BIG LOUD FUN of the Museum.”

The Christmas Creation Station, not unlike the North Pole workshops, will keep young visitors busy making Christmas decorations to take home.

Top off the festivities with a one and a half hour journey through the Queensland countryside on a fully restored steam train, departing from The Workshops Rail Museum platform on Sunday 27 November. Bookings are essential.

The Workshops Rail Museum is part of the Queensland Museum and is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism.
