Santa Celebration 2011Santa has brushed up on his G’days for a weekend of festive fun at the Santa Celebrations event on the weekend of 8 and 9 December at The Workshops Rail Museum.

He’s made his list and checked it twice as the jolly man prepares for the meet and greet in air-conditioned comfort, allowing him to check if he’s on track with the right presents for young Museum goers.

The Aussie version of Jingle Bells and other down under tunes will be performed by the Bush Galah as part of his sing-along’s, getting visitors young and old into the magic of an Australian Christmas.

Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said the event was an opportunity for families to get together for some jolly fun.

“Even though it’s the silly season, the Museum team are delighted to start the festivities off early for our visitors to ease into Christmas with their family and friends,” Mr Moritz said.

“With our guest of honour geared up and the activities we have in store, the weekend is sure to put a smile on little faces.”

Families can capture special fun family moments at the DIY photo booth as dress–ups provide instant mock elves, perfect for sharing with friends on social media.

“Santa’s Museum Helpers are also painting faces for free, which will put a smile on both children and parents alike,” Mr Moritz said.

The last Steam Train for the year will be puffing from the Museum Platform on Saturday 8 December, taking eager guests of the jolly man for a scenic return trip through the beautiful south east Queensland countryside to Grandchester. Bookings for the Santa Celebration Steam Train are essential and do not include entry to the Museum or the Santa Celebration event.

The Workshops Rail Museum, celebrating 10 years this year, is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage and Cultural Tourism, and is part of the Queensland Museum Network celebrating 150 years in 2012.
