Get active with hands-on Thomas fun this summer

04 December 2013

Summer fun is sorted when the highly anticipated Day out with Thomas 2014 - with circus activities event starts Boxing Day until 2 February 2014 at The Workshops Rail Museum.

Visitors can step into the hands-on Thomas Play Pit, filled with Thomas play tables for track building and making up Thomas adventures in air conditioned comfort.

Circus inspired activities will have young ones getting active this year with stilt walking, juggling, hula hooping and more.

The Fat Controller will be ready with stories about the Really Useful Engine throughout the day, and will happily pose with fans for photos.

Andrew Moritz Director of The Workshops Rail Museum said the event will have little fans letting off some summer steam.

"Thomas fans are in for a treat, they can meet Thomas and The Fat Controller, give the circus activities a go and try spotting Thomas on our huge model layout ," Mr Moritz said.

"The Thomas Play Pit is a personal favourite for most, it's like your Thomas Toy Box at home but on a huge scale that can be enjoyed with friends.

"Once all the Thomas activities have been put through the paces, little visitors still have the indoor Nippers Railway playground and carriages to explore."

Thomas Imagination Station will have little creative fans colouring, cutting and taping their favourite Thomas and Friends characters.

Visitors can step into Australia's oldest continuously working railway workshops on a tour. They're bigger than the Tidmouth Sheds on Island of Sodor that Thomas is used to and require enclosed shoes for entry.

The Workshops Rail Museum, part of the Queensland Museum Network, is winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage & Cultural Tourism.
