A Sensory Friendly Session - Day out with Thomas

We're excited to present a Day out with Thomas morning session for children with sensory processing difficulties.

Meet Thomas & Sir Topham Hatt, get hands-on in the Thomas Playpit, find Thomas on the huge model railway, and let off some steam in the indoor adventure playground and expansive grounds.

For this very special morning we will turn the sound down and create an engaging and fun space that children with sensory processing difficulties can share with their families and carers. There will be a tailored performance by Sir Topham Hatt at 9am.

Date: Wednesday 11 January 2023
Time: 8am - 11am
Where: The Workshops Rail Museum, North Street, North Ipswich
Cost: Usual general Museum entry applies. Bookings are essential!

What to expect

The museum will be open early, from 8am and soundscapes and Thomas sound tracks will be turned off or right down to a minimum.  While we will do our best to minimise the noise levels of the exhibits and activities, not all of them will be completely silent.  Numbers are limited to 250 for this session.

Please note the Museum will open to the public at 9:30am, although will continue to operate at sensory friendly levels until we transition back to normal volumes at 11am.

If you would like specific information to help you plan your visit, please contact us on (07) 3432 5100 or email us at info@theworkshops.qm.qld.gov.au and we will be very happy to answer your questions.

The Sensory Friendly Session - Day out with Thomas has been developed in cooperation with Autism Queensland.
