Bring history to life with hands-on exhibitions, colourful stories, impressive steam locomotives and industrial machinery.

The development of rail goes hand in hand with the history of people and places, significant events and inventions, industry and innovation.

Step inside real locomotives, carriages and onto the platforms of our past and present. Learners are surrounded by collections of weird and wonderful tools, trolleys and technologies, each with a story to tell and role to play in the narrative of our railways.

Enhance your student learnings with a School Program session led by a Museum Learning Officer or opt for a self-guided visit. Learning programs and resources are aligned with the Australian Curriculum in the key learning areas of HASS, History, English, Science, Mathematics, and Design and Technologies.

Our fifteen full-sized exhibits encourage students to play and learn as they discover the impact of railways with immersive exhibits, soundscapes, a play zone, and scale models.
