Science of Rail Trail

The activities in this excursion worksheet are based on the science stations located throughout the Museum. Through hands-on experimentation, students will develop and understanding of energy and change and how these concepts apply to real life and rail related contexts. The activities are aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Science for Years 6 to 8 students.

Trainspotting Trail

Upper primary students can use this trail to explore the Museum in greater depth.

Curriculum-linked Excursion Project

Working in the Past: Year 5 History & English

This program of work can be linked into in-class units of work on Australia’s colonial past and is aligned with the Australian Curriculum: History and English. It looks at the advent of rail in Queensland and the continuity and change of railway workers’ roles over time. There are a range of activities and resources that Year 5 students can complete before, during and after an excursion to the Museum, at which they can access a wide range of primary and secondary sources and artefacts.
